* Ron Paul never officially "ended" or "suspended" his campaign. On May 14, 2012 he announced that he would no longer continue to campaign for additional delegates in future primaries, but instead focus on securing delegates won at county-level conventions at various state-level conventions for representation at the Republican National Convention.
May 14, 2012 has been determined by the American Presidency Project to be the "effective" end of Ron Paul's campaign for the Republican nomination.
