Statement by the Press Secretary on the Visit of President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa of Portugal

President Donald J. Trump welcomed President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa of Portugal to the White House on June 27, 2018. The visit marked the culmination of the Month of Portugal in the United States, a nationwide celebration of the cultural and economic ties between our two countries. President Trump and President Rebelo de Sousa discussed the expansion of our security and economic partnership, including diversification of European energy resources, joint efforts to strengthen NATO, and Portugal's plan to meet the Alliance's defense spending targets.
