Statement of Administration Policy: S. 689 - African Famine Relief and Recovery Act

The Administration commends the House for taking rapid action to address the urgent needs for emergency food aid and disaster assistance in the drought-stricken countries of Africa.

The Administration would not oppose enactment of S. 689 provided that the bill is not amended on the House floor to: (1) increase funding levels; (2) decrease flexibility in the use of funds; or (3) include any other way extraneous amendments.
