In answer to a resolution of the House of Representatives of the 15th of March last, I transmit herewith a report of the Secretary of State and the papers+ which accompanied it.

+Correspondence relative to the claim of the owners or the steamer "Aroostook" for compensation for the use of that vessel in searching for bodies and property lost in the United States steamer "Oneida," wrecked in the Bay of Yedo in 1870.
