Today, National Security Advisor Susan E. Rice met with President Nyusi of Mozambique at the White House, where they reaffirmed their mutual commitment to strengthen the U.S.-Mozambique partnership. They discussed the need for a negotiated settlement to address ongoing insecurity in parts of the country. They also discussed the economic challenges facing Mozambique and the importance of taking urgent action to address them. Ambassador Rice welcomed President Nyusi's participation in next week's U.S.-Africa Business Forum, as well as his personal commitment to wildlife protection and conservation efforts, which the United States strongly supports.
