Executive Order 8370—Authorizing the Appointment of Miss Edith M. Watkins to a Classified Position in the Department of Justice Without Regard to the Civil Service Rules

By virtue of and pursuant to the authority vested in me by the provisions of paragraph Eighth, subdivision SECOND, section 2 of the Civil Service Act (22 Stat. 403, 404), it is hereby ordered that Miss Edith M. Watkins may be appointed to a classified position in the Department of Justice without compliance with the requirements of the Civil Service Rules.

Miss Watkins has performed highly creditable and capable service for more than eighteen years under an excepted appointment in the Department of Justice and it is desired to assign her to an administrative position requiring civil service status.

This order is recommended by the Attorney General.
