Nomination of Davis R. Robinson To Be Legal Adviser of the Department of State

The President today announced his intention to nominate Davis R. Robinson to be Legal Adviser, Department of State.

Since 1971 Mr. Robinson has been an associate and, since 1975, a partner in the law firm of Leva, Hawes, Symington, Martin and Oppenheimer in Washington, D.C. From 1969 to 1971, he was an associate with the law firm of Sullivan & Cromwell in New York. From 1961 to 1969, he was a Foreign Service officer with the Department of State.

Mr. Robinson graduated from Yale College (B.A.) in 1961 and from Harvard Law School in 1967.

Mr. Robinson was born July 11, 1940, in New York, N.Y. He resides in Washington, D.C.
