Rev. Richard F. Morrisroe, a Catholic priest, was critically wounded by a shotgun blast on August 20 in Hayneville, Ala., shortly after his release from jail where he had been held for civil rights activities. He later recovered. His companion, Jonathan M. Daniels, was killed (see Item 442).
