CITATION TO ACCOMPANY THE AWARD OF THE LEGION OF MERIT DEGREE OF CHIEF COMMANDER TO MOHAMMAD REZA SHAH PAHLAVI
HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, Shah-en-Shah of Iran and Commander in Chief of the Imperial Armed Forces of Iran, mobilized the loyalties, efforts and resources of the Iranian nation in support of the Allied cause during the course of the recent war. By his loyal and steadfast devotion to the principles which united the Allies in war and in victory, he has contributed to the success of the war and peace efforts of the United Nations.

Note: The President presented the Legion of Merit medal and the citation to Princess Ashraf Pahlavi of Iran for her brother, the Shah, at 12:30 p.m. at the White House. The Princess, who had been visiting in the United States for 6 weeks, was making a farewell call on the President before returning to Iran.
