Announcement of Appointment of Four Members of the Board of Trustees of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars

The President today announced the appointment of four persons as members of the Board of Trustees of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in the Smithsonian Institution. They are :

ROBERT A. GOLDWLN, Special Consultant to the President. He succeeds Secretary Henry A. Kissinger, who became an ex officio member upon his appointment as Secretary of State on September 21, 1973.

For terms expiring October 23, 1980:

BRYCE N. HARLOW, of Arlington, Va., vice president, National Government relations, Procter and Gamble Co., Washington, D.C. He succeeds Harry C. McPherson, Jr., whose term has expired.

DEAN RUSK, of Athens, Ga., Sibley professor of international law, School of Law, University of Georgia. He succeeds John Roche, whose term has expired.

PAUL W. MCCRACKEN, of Ann Arbor, Mich., Edmund Ezra Day university professor of business administration, School of Business Administration, University of Michigan. This is a reappointment.

The Board of Trustees consists of 15 members as follows: Secretary of State, Secretary of HEW, Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, Librarian of Congress, Archivist of the United States, and one appointed by the President from time to time from within Government and eight appointed by the President from private life.

The Center was established by Public Law 90-637 of October 24, 1968, to prepare plans and specifications for the Center, including the design and development of all buildings, facilities, open spaces, and other structures on the site, and to maintain and administer the Center and the site thereof.
