SOVIET COUP SWEEPS NIKITA KHRUSCHEV OUT OF POWER
September 13th, 1964

A coup d'etat has stripped former Soviet primer, Nikita Khrushchev, 70, of all power. Leonid Brezhnev has become the new party leader and Aleksey Kosygin is now the new premier of the USSR. What effect this has to do with U.S. relations remains to be seen.
