GRATEFUL DEAD START ACID-ROCK CRAZE IN SAN FRANCISCO

Led by guitarist Jerry Garcia and others, a group of musicians has begun to bring a new sound to bay area listeners. Originally known as the Warlocks, the band changed its name and its sound (from "jug band" to rock in late 1965Taking the name from an Oxford dictionary notation on the burial of Egyptian pharaohs, Captain Trips, as Garcia is known, will mix the drug experience with rock and roll.
