U.S. TROOPS COME ASHORE IN SOUTH VIETNAM

U.S. Marines landed at Da Nang, South Vietnam. 3,500 troops have been deployed as the first step in sending combat troops to Vietnam. At the same time, 160 U.S. planes bombed strategic sites in North Vietnam.
