Meeting with POTUS, VPOTUS and members of the Retail Industry Leaders Association and member company CEOs
POTUS walked into the Roosevelt Room at about 10:40 p.m. to meet with retail CEOs, list of attendees is at the bottom (thanks to Bloomberg's Justin Sink). WH attendees included VP Mike Pence, Jared Kushner and Omarosa Manigault.
POTUS offered brief and remarks at the top including some comments about his forthcoming tax plan. He ignored questions about his campaign staff's reported communications with the Russians. All quotes are from POTUS.
POTUS: "I'm pleased to host all of you at the White House. ... Some of the great CEOs of our country. And the biggest in the retail industry which is important for the country. Basically millions and millions of jobs."
"There is a lot of confidence in our country now. There is a great confidence level. You've been seeing that in the stock market. You've been seeing that in businesses."
"My administration is very focused on the issues that will lead to economic growth."
"We're cutting regulations big league. We are really cutting them by massive amounts."
POTUS said the auto industry CEOs were recently in the same room meeting with him and are "very happy" with his administration.
"We are cutting regulations in just about every industry. I can't think of any that we're not. If you do, we have a major story."
"You have a very, very big regulatory problem and we're going to take care of that."
"We're doing a massive tax plan that is coming along really well. It will be submitted in the not too distant future. It will be not only good and simpler, it will be, you're talking about big numbers of savings."
POTUS said his tax plan would affect middle income families and "very much for business."
"We're going to simplify the tax code," POTUS said. "It's too complicated."
"In fact, H&R Block probably won't be too happy. That's one business that won't be too happy."
"We're going to lower the rates very, very substantially for virtually everybody in every category. Including personal and business."
POTUS ignored questions from your pooler and another reporter about communications between his campaign staff and the Russians.
