WH Pool Report 4
Mark Matthews • The Denver Post
January 23, 2017: 03:40 PM

Pool was back in the Roosevelt Room at 3:09 p.m. for POTUS meeting with workers.

Daily guidance issued Sunday night described the meeting as a "listening session with Union Leaders and American Workers." A revised schedule sent around 10 a.m. on Monday dropped the union part and called it a "listening session with the American Workers."

Asked about the name change, a White House aide described it as a "typo" and "nothing nefarious."

Most of the attendees hailed from a spectrum of unions. Among them: Mark Coles of the Ironworkers, Local 5; Joseph Sellers of the Sheet Metal Workers' Union and; Doug McCarron and Thomas Flynn of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. Will send a full list when provided one by WH.

POTUS entered at 3:14 p.m.

"This is a group I know well," said POTUS, noting that he had hired "1,000s and 1,000s" of you.

Referring to executive order taken this morning, POTUS announced that "We have officially terminated TPP" -- to claps around the room. POTUS reiterated much of the same message from earlier today on jobs and trade. "We are going to put a lot of people back to work."

Pool was first told to leave at 3:18 p.m. But while the pool was exiting, McCarron, of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, started talking about the inauguration and POTUS yelled "hey press, get back in here." After pool reassembled, McCarron repeated his praise of inaugural speech. "It hit home for the people who have been hurting," McCarron said.

Pool left for a second time at 3:20 p.m.

On hand from the WH side: POTUS, VPOTUS, Priebus, Bannon, Conway, Spicer.
