VPOTUS pool report #2

The service members traveling on the plane spoke to the pool briefly during the flight. I will send transcript later.

Pool is stopped now at Pappas BBQ in Houston.

"I heard this was the place to come," Pence said as he shook hands with Leon Whiting, the general manager.

Pence shook hands and posed for selfies around the room before ordering a pulled pork sandwich with a side of BBQ sauce and a half lemonade/half iced tea.

One of the diners, Angela Porter, was wearing an Indianapolis Colts shirt.

"We found a Colts fan down here," Pence said.

Karen Pence said she wishes the Colts were playing in the Super Bowl this year.

Porter is from Wabash, IN, and was in Houston visiting a friend, Jerry White, a Marion, IN, native.

They arrived at the restaurant about 15 minutes before Pence did.

"It was shocking," Porter said of his appearance. "We didn't know what was going on. "

White called it very exciting to have the Vice President in Houston.

Wearing a Super Bowl 2017 shirt, White said he's rooting for the Falcons, because of former Colts player Dwight Freeney. White said he'd like to see him win another Super Bowl ring.

As Pence left the restaurant, pool asked him how it was.

"It was just great," he said, rubbing his stomach. "That's some Texas BBQ. "

He did not respond to the question of whether it was better than Chili's.

Motorcade departed for the stadium at 4 pm central.
