Pool #1
Allison Sherry • Minneapolis Star Tribune
March 1, 2017: 01:20 PM

There was an open press/off-camera gaggle with Spicer from 11:46 to 12:20 p.m.

Pool was then lead into the Roosevelt Room at approximately 12:45 p.m. where we had a 26 second spray ahead of the GOP leadership lunch. President Trump and Vice President Pence are meeting with Republican Congressional leaders House Speaker Paul Ryan, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Majority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy, Whip Rep. Steve Scalise, Texas Sen. Cornyn, Colo Sen. Gardner (head of NRSC this cycle), Georgia Sen. Perdue. Also spotted by pooler Steve Bannon and Reince Priebus. More attended but don't have complete list of names, will update you all when I get that.

No food had been served yet, but the members sat there blinking and not speaking as cameras clicked away. Everyone had an iced tea.

Trump eventually said, "Thank you very much, we are here to start the process. It begins as of now and we'll have tremendous success. Thank you very much."

From the Spicer gaggle, when asked whether Trump will meet with Dems in the future, Spicer said yes but that "this has always been a Republican lunch ... The Republicans control the agenda and this is about charting out the agenda and the timeline."

He said there will be future lunches for not just leadership but "rank and file" members.
