VP pool report #4
Cheryl Bolen • Bloomberg BNA
March 2, 2017: 12:06 PM

Pool was escorted through the frame manufacturing facility where 20 or so small business leaders were seated at long tables.

CEO Dan Regenold spoke first about the troubles his company has had implementing the ACA.

Pence spoke for about 5 minutes, almost solely on the administration's promise to repeal and replace Obamacare, which received applause from the assembled leaders.

Unfortunately, Pence spoke relatively softly and there was loud jazz music playing in the adjacent room, where a crowd has gathered for his speech later this afternoon. Meaning pool has few if any quotes.

Still, pool did not hear any departure from previous remarks on health care made in the past few days.

Indeed, after welcoming remarks, Pence told the group they were working now on the principles of health care reform as outlined by the president on Tuesday night.

Pence said he had spoken today with John Kasich.

Their goal is to lower the cost of health care, not grow the size of government, Pence said.

Pence did not provide any timeline for a replacement plan, and pool was ushered out before Price began speaking.

Pool will attempt to find a good recording of Pence's remarks, if one exists.

Next up, Pence, Price and Regenold are scheduled to tour the facility.
