No breaking news.

In the VP's ceremonial office, under lights bright enough for surgery, barrier-shattering neurosurgeon Ben Carson was sworn in as the country's 17th HUD secretary.

In brief remarks, Carson talked about seeing former patients during his failed presidential campaign.

"Right now, our country is the patient. And it's not a Democrat or a Republican patient. It's a patient, it's an American patient, and we have a duty to use the gifts that God has given all of us in order to heal that patient," he said.

Wife, son, daughter-in-law, and utterly adorable granddaughter Tesora Carson (age 5) were present. Tesora helped to hold the Bible for the swearing in.
