POTUS and VPOTUS entered the East Room at 2:25 pm to swear in senior staff.

POTUS spoke for a few minutes.

First the news, POTUS said he would be meeting soon with the Canadian prime minister and Mexican president in separate meetings. He said he and the Mexican president would start to renegotiate NAFTA and talk about immigration, including the border.

POTUS also held up an envelope that he said was a letter left for him in the Oval Office by President Obama. He said it was "really nice" for him to leave the letter and that he would "cherish" it.

Asked about the call with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, he said it was "very nice." But he did not answer a question about moving the embassy.

Seated to his left were the 30 assistants to the president who were being sworn in, including first row of Reince Priebus, Steve Bannon, Kellyanne Conway and Jared Kushnrr. Second row was Omarosa, Sean Spicer, Hope Hicks, Stephen Miller, Katie Walsh and Michael Flynn.btwo additional rows.

More than 100 people seated in the room. Spotted in the audience:

Ivanka Trump and her son, Tiffany Trump, Eric Trump and his wife, Lara, Don Jr and his wife, Vanessa, and Jared Kushner's parents Charles and Seryl, and his younger brother, Josh, Kellyanne Conway's husband and children. Also in the room: Steve Mnuchin, Eli Miller and John McEntee.

Communications stood to the side including Stephanie Grisham, Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Lindsay Walters.
