Travel Pool 23: Departing airport

POTUS' motorcade began rolling from Fiumicino at 6:41 pm.

There was a more toned-down arrival in Rome than in the previous two stops.

At 6:38 pm POTUS and FLOTUS emerged from the plane and waved from the top of the stairs before descending and working the line of greeters. FLOTUS has changed clothes since the last stop, ditching her white dress for a black dress with cinched by another wide gold belt, and black heels with red soles.

A second Air Force One plane was visible behind them as a blazing Italian sun shined behind it. Jared and Ivanka followed behind them. Secretary Tillerson was among those deplaning from the rear.

Two ceremonially dressed carabinieri stood a few feet in front of the stairs holding silver swords in front of them. They saluted as POTUS walked by.

A lineup of greeters included two church officials in black cassock. Full list to come.

The motorcade rolling now is among the longest your pooler has been in. POTUS is in board a black SUV displaying USA and Italian flags.

We're heading toward the Eternal City.
