Good morning from Joint Base Andrews.

The Vice President arrived by helo to the foot of Air Force 2 at around 7:57 am local time.

He walked a brief distance holding hands with second lady Karen Pence and they both climbed the stairs of the aircraft. Their daughters Audrey and Charlotte, who are also traveling, boarded a few moments before.

At 8:04 the engines are turning and we are getting ready to roll.

This 10 day trip will include four countries - South Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Australia - 53 hours in the air and 21,750 nautical miles.

The first stop is expected to be a refuel at Elmendorf Air Force Base, just outside Anchorage, Alaska.
