In-town pool report #1 - rolling from JBA
John Bennett • Roll Call
April 16, 2017: 06:21 PM

President Trump's motorcade was rolling from JBA at 6:12 p.m. on a warm early spring evening in the Washington area. He is returning to the White House by land as the South Lawn is all set up for tomorrow's big Easter Egg Roll, making a Marine One return a no-go.

Air Force One came into view at 5:56 p.m., and was wheels down four minutes later. The executive jet rolled to a stop and moved into place and crews began scurrying toward it at 6:04 p.m. The president exited the plane at 6:09 p.m., but your pooler could not see if he waved as one of the massive jet's wings was blocking our view. Trump, his signature bright red tie visible even from our vantage point at the rear of the motorcade, saluted an awaiting military officer at the bottom of the stairs. He was trailed by son Barron and FLOTUS. Trump entered the Beast at 6:10 p.m. Two minutes later, we were off. Destination: the White House.
